The '''Supreme Court of the United States''' ('''SCOTUS''') is the highest court in the federal judiciary of the [[United States]]. The Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit is the second-highest Court of the United States, only outranked by the [[Supreme Court of the United States]]. Like the Supreme Court justices, judges of the DC Circuit are nominated by the President of the United States and confirmed by the United States Senate for a lifetime tenure. The Court of Appeals hears appeals from the State Courts and the Superior Court, but also occasionally functions as trial court for federal cases.
