'''NotAName''' is a [[Progressive Party|Progressive]] Senator from Jefferson. He was originally a [[Democratic Party|Democrat]], but he left to join the [[Communist Party]] before settling on the [[Progressive Party|Progressives]]. NotAName is the only member of the sim to have held a position in Congress representing all three states.

== History ==
NotAName was invited by [[AnswerMeNow]] to the sim on April 3, 2018. He was elected to the House of Representatives in the April Election on the Green Democratic Ticket in the South (now Dixie). During the June elections, NotAName briefly defected to the Communist Party before leaving and becoming a founding member of the Progressive Party, along with Butterlands and others.

NotAName was elected to one of the Senate seats in the Northern special election in July, after the Communist exodus. After serving a few weeks as minority leader, another special election prompted the ambitious, Progressive-supported candidate IndyPrez into the Senate (NotAName had designed a campaign poster for IndyPrez, as well as given him advice). He assisted in making IndyPrez Majority Leader of the Senate, setting off an era of the Senate known as the "IndyPrez era". Meanwhile, NotAName had become the ''de facto'' second-in-command of the Progressive Party, assisting Butterlands in negotiating a Progressive-Republican Coalition to combat the Democratic hold on the country.

After the Democratic Coup, many members of the Democrats disagreeing with the methods of [[ComHack447]] defected to the Progressive Party. This allowed the Party to surge to victory in the August Elections. They took control of both the House and Senate, putting Jet back to his old position as Senate Majority Leader. This period was quite quiet, with the Progressives passing their agenda mostly without challenge. The PP-GOP coalition was terminated for the sake of it not being needed anymore, and a rival coalition with the Democrats, the SDA, was founded. The Democrats would soon become the New Whigs, but the coalition was not touched.

The October Elections saw the defeat of the SDA and the defeat of the left for the first time in sim history. The SDA lost the Senate, but retained a majority in the House. NotAName lost reelection to [[Lamport]] and, as part of a plan formulated by fellow party member Cool Dad, moved to Jefferson and became a representative in the state. During this period, NotAName became the Leader of the PP following the ascension of [[Butterlands]] to the Supreme Court, and became Secretary of State, nominated by his former party leader [[Politophile]]. NotAName helped negotiate the LC, an agreement between the SDA and the Communist Party. Following the retirement of [[Peanut]], NotAName resolved a brief Speakership crisis in the House by volunteering himself to serve as Speaker for the remainder of the session of Congress.

During this time, NotAName founded the Orwell Institute, an anti-authoritarian think tank loosely promoting the values of George Orwell.

NotAName reentered the Senate following the January Elections, winning a seat from the retiring Apex. However, he lost the party leadership elections to good friend Cool Dad by a small margin. NotAName went on to become a member of the PNEC, in an attempt to bridge a growing divide within the party between the establishment Progressives (headed by Cool Dad), and the Justice Progressives (headed by IndyPrez).

On January 12, 2019, NotAName announced an already-expected run for the Presidency of the US.

The Republican Party was one of the starting parties of the AmericanGovSim. It began representing the real life US Republican Party, but evolved into a broader centre right party as the simulation went on.

User Elevic began as party chairman, with users Kovr and _hedgehog_1 as Vice Chairman. User System then joined the party, and gained the third position of Vice Chairman.

=== Monarchist Negotiations ===

System entered negotiations with the Monarchists, at the time led by user Colourful_Future, to merge the Republicans and Monarchists. A group chat on Discord was formed, and swiftly turned into a heated negotiation. The Monarchists proposed that the Republicans join their server, and in exchange will be given some leaedership positions, while Colourful_Future retained his power as King. Screenshots from an insider in the Monarchist Party revealed that Colourful_Future's objective was to integrate the Republicans into the Monarchists, where they would be controlled. Colourful_Future assured fellow Monarchist Party members that the incoming Republican Party would have no effective control.

Due to this, _hedgehog_1 called a VONC against System. After a short discussion, and posting of the screenshots, the vote has held and System lost the vote 3-1(System was the only vote against). He subsequently left the party, and the merge did not occur.

A user known as Rebel(though he changed his username multiple times throughout the simulation, including, infamously, Himmler) then got into contact with the Republicans. He filled the vacant position left by System's departure.

Elevic, as Chairman, faced a Vote of No Confidence(VONC) called by _hedgehog_1, and subsequently lost the vote 3-1 (Elevic was the only vote against). Kovr then became Chairman of the Republican Party. Elevic then joined the Monarchist Party.

An ally of Rebel's, NapoloenBorn2Party, then filled the vacant position left by Elevic. The next day, another VONC was called against the Chairman, Kovr, on the grounds of inactivity in the party and sim. Kovr lost the vote 3-1(Kovr was the only vote against), and then _hedgehog_1 became Chairman of the Republican Party, with Rebel and NapoleonBorn2Party as Vice Chairman.

After the internal situation had stabilised, _hedgehog_1 and the Vice Chairman took the decision to re-brand the party. The Republican Party became the United Right, with a new logo and manifesto.
Due to these events happening at the very beginning of AGS, there remains little record of these events due to the old Republican server being lost, group chats being closed, and the Monarchist server being lost.

=== Return to Roots and Downfall ===

After the fall of the United Right the new Chairman, System, re-branded the party back to its roots, the GOP. Following the re-branding of the party the Deputy Chairman did not like the deals System was doing. He negotiated with the Libertarians which was not received well among the Deputies and they in turn attempted a coup and left to create their own fascist party. After this System was removed from power and chairmanship was given to The Eye. Not much is known to what happened while he was leader, all we know is that he merged the party with the Monarchists in exchange for a leadership position.
