@Kamala Harris as a newcomer without any experience do you believe this puts you ahead of or behind your opponent?

If you could only accomplish one thing in the Senate, what would it be?

System 06-Mar-20 08:29 PM
Work towards VA reform and helping those who are currently serving our nation

@Kamala Harris @System Which do you think is generally a bigger threat to freedom, increased business power or increased federal power in regards to business?
Avatar
System 06-Mar-20 09:15 PM
Complicated question, personally i think its a mix of both, while im all for free markets, the government needs to put some regulations to keep the power of businesses in check
@Ben

@Anarchist Thank you for your question. I believe that being a newcomer, in particular, puts me ahead of my opponent. I have a great amount of respect for the former Vice President. However, I do not think he is the best equipped to serve our state in the senate. Our state doesn't need someone promising change when it is evident they will sit back and relax in their position of power. What we need is bold leadership. We need bold plans that will achieve structural change to a Washington that works less and less for the people they are supposed to serve. I never thought I would want to run for office, ever. But the severity of our situation when it comes to issues like Climate Change, Healthcare, the Economy, and Education have led to my run for office. This is the fight for our lives. I am well equipped to do what is necessary if elected to ensure that we lift each other up, not tear each other down. We must come together to bring real structural change to a dysfunctional Washington. Our people need a fighter. I will stay in this fight to the very end.

@Valerie Madam President. My priority in the senate will be to make this economy make for every. Entrepreneurship is down, and it is becoming increasingly harder to establish businesses, especially for people of color. Our State Economy, like the rest of the country, is powered by small businesses. I want every person, no matter where they live, to turn great ideas into businesses. That is just who we should be as Americans. We should be promoting entrepreneurship. The biggest issue small business owners have brought up to me is the lack of capital. The disparity in the absence of capital is by far the biggest reason why black-owned businesses are less profitable. That is why I hope to work with anyone willing to come to the table on a Small Business fund, which will help close the gap for entrepreneurs of color, and by doing so, create thousands of new jobs. Once the difference is closed, the fund will continue to exist; however, it will apply to all entrepreneurs. We must encourage bold ideas. I will fight to make this economy work for everyone, not just the wealthy and well-connected.
@Ben I agree with the Former Vice President. Free markets are good, however there must be common sense regulations to limit the power businesses have.

@Kamala Harris You have never held a position before, what makes you ready for the senate?
Also, what would your solution be to decreasing insulin prices?
Avatar
Kamala Harris 07-Mar-20 04:38 AM
@mk33F16 Thank you for your questions. In the coming hours, I will be releasing a slew of policy proposals I will work tirelessly for if elected to the Senate. I am just an ordinary citizen that is looking to make a difference in the lives of the people in my community. I believe Washington is lacking people who are going to fight for what is right. Look, my experience as a single mom, living paycheck to paycheck, may not be the Washington experience everyone is used to, but it counts. I know the dire situation millions of families are facing in our state and our country. I've been there. That is what I think the people of my state want. A fighter who has been in their shoes. A fighter who knows them. I am prepared to fight the big fights to bring structural change to my state and the country. I will never stop fighting for what is right. That's what we do as women. We fight.
Avatar
mk33F16 07-Mar-20 04:40 AM
Why did you feel the need to bring ''women'' into this?
Are you playing the gender card for politic's sake? (edited)
Avatar
Kamala Harris 07-Mar-20 04:44 AM
No, I am not. In my opinion, there are not enough women in politics today. That's just my opinion. One clear thing is that women can and should be just as ambitious as men when it comes to running for office. Am I not allowed to bring up the millions of women in my state I want to represent? Doesn't that sound wrong to you? I do not see where your issue is.
Avatar
mk33F16 07-Mar-20 04:48 AM
Do you think men fight too?
Avatar
Kamala Harris 07-Mar-20 04:49 AM
Of course.
Avatar
mk33F16 07-Mar-20 04:49 AM
So why did you have to say "That's what we do as women. We fight." It seems as if you're playing the gender card here. (edited)
Avatar
Kamala Harris 07-Mar-20 04:52 AM
There's a simple answer to that because I am a woman. Simply because I didn't say that men are fighters as well doesn't mean they are not.

Well in my mind there are two options. Price control. Or strip the patent from the companies grossly over charging for the drug

@Kamala Harris and id like to challenge your assertion I’ll sit back and do nothing. While I applaud you for holding no position before and reaching for the senate. I believe my record in the house and brief stint in the senate since I was appointed would show the people more than enough reasons to elect me
I was the reason JHS didn’t fail in parliament. While it’s a flawed system which I want to work with the governor to fix in the parliament. I’ve also pushed for mental health reform and have done a lot of good for Jefferson and our country
@mk33F16 thanks for the question
I’ve pushed for healthcare, education, mental health care reform. And education in the past
I find it hard for anyone to believe that I would sit back and do nothing for this state when my record shows the complete opposite
I would like this to stay a clean campaign without insulting each other so I’ll give that one a pass @Kamala Harris
This race is about the people and what we believe. Not what you think of me or what I think of you. Let’s let our track records show the people the truth.

Do you believe that the "political card playing" being demonstrated by many politicians is ok?
Avatar
System 07-Mar-20 05:12 AM
What exactly do you mean by that ? Like the behind the scenes deal making ?
@mk33F16
Or are you talking about almost like The show House of Cards without the murder obviously
How everyone had a secret agenda and does what it takes to accomplish it
I’ve served 5 terms in the house, 1 term in senate from being appointed, served as VP, Governor of Jefferson and been an MP almost my whole political career so I’d hope you won’t make the statement about me not doing anything for this state anymore thank you
Avatar
mk33F16 07-Mar-20 05:26 AM
I mean as in using fallacies for political gain.
Avatar
System 07-Mar-20 05:35 AM
While it’s not a good thing. It’s apart of this game. People always want to see someone else fail. People always hunger for more than they have. You just have to push past it. That’s why I left public office for the state Supreme Court. I was tired of the in fighting and people at each other’s throats for more power. But I also realized I couldn’t help change the system unless I was in it
If that makes sense

Kamala Harris 07-Mar-20 05:38 AM
@mk33F16 Medicare should be permitted to negotiate down prices while at the same time, I agree with my opponent that we should be looking at patents as well. Companies are abusing the most vulnerable people for short term profit. That's unjust and has to end.
@System I am glad you brought up the JHS. You agree it is flawed? (edited)
Avatar
mk33F16 07-Mar-20 05:39 AM
How are companies abusing the most vulnerable people, when it is the government which restricts mass production along with a few of them?
Are you just putting up a ''greedy business'' fallacy in order to appeal to the working class? (edited)
- Also, what makes you think you could do a better job as senator than your opponent? @System @Kamala Harris
Avatar
Kamala Harris 07-Mar-20 05:41 AM
I find it especially treacherous to answer your questions because it seems like no matter what I say, you immediately suggest I am trying to appeal to a particular group of people. Pharmaceutical companies have and still are praying on the most vulnerable in this country. How is that disputable?
Avatar
mk33F16 07-Mar-20 05:42 AM
The Government doesn't allow certain general pharmas to mass produce insulin, would you say they are equally responsible?
Also, what makes you think you could do a better job as senator than your opponent?
Avatar
Kamala Harris 07-Mar-20 05:50 AM
To your first question, yes. I am an outsider. I serve no one but the people of my state. I am an outsider. I serve no one but the people of my state. I will say something that may be considered controversial to say as a candidate in an election. The Former Vice President, if our great state decides that he is the best to serve us in the Senate, would make a great public servant. I can assure you we agree on many issues, that's not a dispute. However, I have a significant amount of respect for him and for the work he has done for our state and our country. If he is elected, I do not doubt in my mind that he will do what he thinks is right for our nation first. Our state has to decide between two different vision for our future. Two very different visions if I may add. Simply because we have different opinions on issues doesn't mean either of us would do worse than the other. I think my strength lies in my experience as an ordinary citizen. The Former Vice President has been in the public eye for a long time, and I respect him for it. However, I think it is time for new leadership, new ideas, new faces to fight for what is right. What I bring to the table when discussing legislation with other senators would be an open mind and the focus on what we agree on rather than what we disagree on.
Avatar
mk33F16 07-Mar-20 05:53 AM
Could you be more specific on what you can do, instead of being subjective? (edited)
Why do we need you as a ''new face'', what is wrong with @System?
Avatar
Kamala Harris 07-Mar-20 01:02 PM
There are multiple things I specifically want to do. I answered your question about how I would go about things. I am not going to attack the Former Vice President for things he has done in the past, but we need to be looking forward, not backward. New faces will bring the change our country so desperately needs.
Now I think it would be appropriate if we debate specific policies.

Do you really want to talk about your track record former Vice President?
I want to focus on the issues at hand. Issues that the people of our state are impacted by. I’d rather not go down that divisive path of dissecting your record.

Okay, so lets talk taxes
Do you agree with a 1 tax

You need to be more specific.
A single tax could also mean a corporate tax solely.
Which I believe you don’t mean.

Land Value Tax
whats your opinion on it
and do you support the abolishment of Income taxes

You are asking two different questions.
Now three.

System 07-Mar-20 03:30 PM
LVT is in reference to the 1 tax
and im asking a second question on Income taxes
Avatar
Kamala Harris 07-Mar-20 03:31 PM
Income taxes have been abolished and I believe it should stay that way. This administrations Land Value Tax is adequate for the spending levels as it stands now.
Avatar
System 07-Mar-20 03:32 PM
So would you continue on this road, of keeping the LVT and supporting low corporate taxes
Avatar
Kamala Harris 07-Mar-20 03:32 PM
I may be mistaken but I do believe there is no corporate tax on the federal level anymore.

im asking if you support that
