For education.... First, onerous education regulations shall be appealed because it restricts colleges and universities from innovation. Second, expand school choice for our most vulnerable students do they can have a high quality education. Third, pill grants must be reformed. Current students are bound to a 6 year 2 semester cycle which discourages many from going to higher education. The program fails to adequately support those who want to complete their studies more quickly by taking additional courses beyond the traditional academic year. So, if pell grants are offered year round and become more flexible, it will be faster, cheaper, and results in lower debt. Fourth, school voluntary prayer should be allowed and school religious clubs should be given proper facilities. I strongly support voluntary student-initiated prayer in school without governmental interference. I strongly disagree with the Supreme Court’s rulings against student-initiated prayer. Fifth, we need to increase higher education access with savings accounts. This is done through targeting increased benefits to students taking challenging courses, forming partnerships with colleges and universities to improve science and math education, and attracting science, math, and engineering grads to low-income schools. And finally, education merit should be based on achievement alone, not money or social status. In an increasingly competitive globe, America can stay ahead by giving all Americans a quality K12 education and all strong students an access to higher education.
