Neither of you have ever held office before, why do you deserve to win?

Stoped 06-Mar-20 07:25 PM
Emperio, you have yet to make any public statements at all. What makes you qualifed to run?
I do not wish to fill a seat with an idle and unproductive person. Trauner, by comparison, has been at least marginally active.

I can bring beliefs and ideas to the table as someone new that have not been previously discussed. I also strongly believe in working together and compromising to get things done.

Hey there.

What makes me fit for this position, is the fact that I am committed, I am pragmatic, and I am always ready to compromise for the greater good of the people. When I think of holding public office, in this case the House of Representatives, rather than representing my party, I strive to represent the interests of the people who elect us, the Citizens of the United States, and the citizens of the Northern States. It is our job to make sure that, regardless of who they may be, our citizens lead a fulfilling life and live up to the American Dream. Pointless bickering over the smallest of issues severely undermine this job, and I will work tirelessly to benefit my people, and uphold their rights.
@Stoped
I can assure you that once elected, I will be far from idle.

My main ideas include furthering progress in our nation instead of chaos and fighting. Compromise is key, and while I do have liberal ideas I can respect conservative beliefs as well.

@Emperio What is your opinion on immigration? (edited)
Avatar
Emperio 07-Mar-20 11:06 PM
I think Immigrants made America into what it is today, diversity is our greatest strength. I want to celebrate immigrants and make sure each of them end up living the American dream. However the foundations of our nation, be it the democratic process or our economy, is undermined by those who would enter illegally, or those who would enter with the intent to harm us. Cracking down and securing our borders against them, but boosting asylum requests for those who need it and those willing to go through the process legally will be something I will consider a vital part of my agenda.

@Emperio What is your opinion on gun control?
Avatar
Emperio 07-Mar-20 11:14 PM
Every citizen has the right to bear arms and protect themselves. We've heard this phrase a lot, but what does it really mean, and what does it hold up to? It holds up when pregnant mother defended herself against an intruder a few months ago. It holds up when a few men stopped a potential mass shooting. The problem with gun violence, is a cultural and social issue. We kill each other, not cause we have guns, but cause we dislike each other or are facing a mental problem in our lives. The solution is not to ban guns, seeing that criminals can easily get them illegally, and the law abiding citizens who defend themselves will not. First and foremost, we need direct security. Whether its at our schools, public buildings, we need to have protection. Second, we need to encourage defense training for the management of areas where there are medium to large public gatherings and for our citizens. This is something I plan to introduce, in a moderate amount. Moreover, we need to address the social issue. Why are kids becoming sadistics and falling to radicalism and violence? Its a lack of care in our society. We need to fix foster care, education systems, and mental care. Then, we have to address the gangs problem. They contribute most of gun violence. First we need to root out why they exist. If its drug trade, we need to legalize certain types of drugs, and for others make sure we hold preventive measures and root out these gangs in a structured manner. If its general violence due to poverty, we need to again employ more preventive measures, and introduce a system to re-introduce gang criminals into the world, with jobs and pardons, based on their level of crime.
I would also suggest introducing a tier system to manage the different types of guns and their allowance, and have a committee overseeing this with not only public officials, but private ones too, so we have multiple perspectives. We should have representatives from neighborhoods filled with poverty, suburbs, rich areas, management, etc.

What is your opinion or general answer to climate change?
Avatar
Emperio 07-Mar-20 11:18 PM
Climate Change is a very real problem, and addressing it in a way that doesn't break the economy, brings new jobs and industry, and provides clean energy to not just the residents of the Northern States, but to the residents of the United States as well is one of my main agendas. I have a comprehensive plan in the words that expands the number of nuclear reactors (one that is money-efficient, considering the capital costs are huge), along with retaining some of 45 TWhours/year of energy that remains unharnessed from the multitude of unpowered dams in the USA.
@Agriculture+ Sure! Go ahead!

Citizens who are involved in agricultural activities shall be responsible for electing those in charge of agriculture in the government.
Avatar
Emperio 07-Mar-20 11:22 PM
I would support such a proposal to an extent The average farmer would definitely know much more about farming than a government bureaucrat, but there are also a multitude of other things the farmer would not have much of an understanding about. (edited)

I will always be looking for the interests of the American Citizen over my party, I have no solid disagreements with the Federalists, and such a disagreement is of no relevance as long as I act for the people. @Ethora (edited)

Do you plan on doing anything about Daylight savings, or is it alright to you as it stands?
Avatar
Zebra 08-Mar-20 10:03 AM
I think daylight savings should be permanent, and I would seek to change it to make it that way.

Emperio 08-Mar-20 01:28 PM
I read a study a while ago, a study which comes to the conclusion that: based on comparisons of large populations living in Daylight Savings Time (DST) or Standard Time (ST), or on western versus eastern edges of time zones, the advantages of permanent ST outweigh switching to DST annually or permanently.
It definitely disrupts the sun-clock and social-clock sync
DST also causes shorter sleep durations, worsened performance and worsened health, along with several eye-raising effects such as a statistical increase in heart-attacks and traffic accidents
It definitely sounds very bold to come to such conclusions, but here are said references: (edited)
