Personal Life

Caprese Van Tassel, commonly known as Caprese, was born in Malibu, California, Jefferson on January 21, 1989. He is the only child of Edward Van Tassel and Kate Van Tassel. In High School, he was President of the Key Club and and was on the school swim team; he graduated from Malibu High School as salutatorian in 2007. After graduation, he went to UCLA planning to get a degree in Business Administration (MBA), aspiring to be an entrepreneur. After volunteering for a political campaign in college, he found an interest in politics. Due to this newly found interest in politics, he decided to switch his major from an MBA into Law (J.D). From 2010 to 2015, he was a partner at a Los Angeles law firm, to gain experience; on the side he volunteered for moderate right-wing political candidates. He took a break from a job for the next five years, and when he felt comfortable enough, jumped into politics himself.

Career

JF-6 Federal Bid
Caprese, a newly joined member of the Conservative Party, and part of the "Conservasurge" going on at the time, announced his candidacy for the federal House district of JF-6, against Benny Neutron, who was representative for JF-1, and Nerdy, a political newcomer of the Federalist Party. In the end, it was a close race between Caprese and Nerdy, but Nerdy ultimately won, 37% to 35% (Neutron received 26% of the vote). But, this wasn't the last you were going to seen from Caprese.

JF-2 Parliament Bid
Just a few days later after losing the federal election, he put his name in as the Conservative candidate for the Jefferson Parliament JF-2 district, after MP The Devil was recently expelled. He campaigned hard, and held a strong debate, and ultimately won against Federalist MonarchJared with almost 70% of the vote. He was subsequently sworn in as MP.

As Member of Parliament
Once sworn in, he immediately got to work, submitting the Wildlife Disease Prevention Act, helping animals stay protected from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It passed the Parliament unanimously, and was signed by Governor Rincewind shortly thereafter. Since then, he has introduced bills relating mainly on the environment, COVID-19, and healthcare. He is currently leading the effort to impeach the current First Secretary of Jefferson, GreekYogurt, citing mainly inactivity from his office.

As Representative
Caprese served as ranking member of the CCE committee. Later, after Apex was removed as Speaker Pro Tempore, Caprese became Speaker pro tempore briefly presided over a day. He then was removed from the position a day later. After John Smith’s censure, Caprese was selected to be the chair of the Way and Means committee.
