The '''Curse of Lamport''' or '''Speakership curse''' was an 18 month period beginning in October, 2018 where - following the election of Speaker [[Lamport]] to the Senate - no one was able to complete a full term as Speaker without resigning or being dismissed by the House. While Speaker [[J.G.T. Webb]] and [[Valerie]] both came close to the record, the curse was finally broken by Speaker [[John Smith]] in April, 2020.
