The Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit is the second-highest Court of the United States, only outranked by the [[Supreme Court of the United States]]. Like the Supreme Court justices, judges of the DC Circuit are nominated by the President of the United States and confirmed by the United States Senate for a lifetime tenure. The Court of Appeals hears appeals from the State Courts and the Superior Court, but also occasionally functions as trial court for federal cases. The Court of Appeals has the power of judicial review.
