Political Views
Politophile is a self-identified market socialist, democratic socialist, liberal, and progressive. His biggest influences are John Stuart Mill, Pierre-Joseph Proudhon, Thomas Paine, John Maynard Keynes, Daniel De Leon, Karl Marx, and Henry George.
Economics
As a market socialist, Politophile supports the predominance of employee-owned businesses and their competition within a liberal market economy. He does not support a ban on private industry, but rather the voluntary supplantation of private industry by the working class. He supports equalizing the bargaining power of the owner class and working class through a federal job guarantee program, which he believes would allow employee-owned businesses to fairly compete with and eventually overtake privately-owned businesses in the job market because workers will prefer to work in them.
Politophile also supports a federally-enforced living minimum wage set at the county level; the establishment of a democratically-run federal mutual bank, of which every citizen is a member, that provides loans at low interest rates; a citizen's dividend, funded by a land value tax, to be paid one time to each citizen once they reach the age of majority; and a progressive tax system of two brackets, 0% for those who earn at most a living income, and a separate rate for those who earn over a living income, set to balance the budget (except in times of economic crisis).
Social Issues
When it comes to the social sphere, Politophile supports liberal ideas like freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of assembly, freedom of association, freedom of expression, and, overall, the freedom to pursue happiness. He is pro-choice on abortion, but wants the government to keep abortions rare by providing quality sex education and free birth control, and supports mandatory anesthesia for fetuses in abortions that take place after the start of the third trimester. Politophile also believes in abolishing private prisons, legalizing all drugs on the federal level, instituting community policing, cracking down on police brutality and corruption, and abolishing capital punishment.
