House of Representatives
He served as the Federal Representative for the North's Third District (Ohio and Indiana) for four consecutive terms, later in his terms becoming Dean of the House and Speaker of the House in his final term. He also served as Minority Leader before becoming Speaker. In the House, Hale authored some his first pieces of legislation and worked with the LOTR Administration on things like immigration reform and the federal budget.
Following the Exodus of the Communists, the United States House of Representatives was left with a ghost delegation of elected officials. With the new Republican majority, Speaker LOTR began to push Republican policies and legislation. To combat this, Matthew Hale pointed out that the Federal Government should not take drastic policy action in wake of the exodus, especially with millions of Americans lacking representation in the House.
