The State of the North is a state comprised of Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Wisconsin. Its capital is Chicago. Formerly the political home of the Communist Party, the North is recognized as being predominantly left wing, having supported the Progressive Party and later the Labor Party as well.
