-After a hiatus and withdraw from public life and civil service, JMP returned to government service after he was nominated by newly-elected President LOTR for the position of Attorney General; however, this nomination was revoked and he was renominated to Associate Justice of the Supreme Court. In a narrow 4-3 vote on partisan lines, his nomination passed. Since his appointment to the bench, he has penned the majority opinion for one landmark case, ''Lamport v. United States''.
