Irene Taylor (born July 26, 1958) is an American musician, educator, and politician currently serving as Dixie's Class I Senator and, consequently, as Senate Majority Leader. Concurrent with her Senatorial positions, Taylor also serves as the United States Secretary of Commerce and Labor, the Dixie Secretary of Education, and the Party Chair of the New American Left. She is also the assemblywoman for Dixie's fourth district but on December 16, 2022, announced she would not seek the seat again.
Prior to her entry in politics, Taylor was a Departmental Director of the Pigeon Forge Chamber of Commerce and then the Superintendent of the Sevier County Public Schools System.
Taylor was a founding member of the New American Left and the primary author of its present constitution and platform.
