A Vote of No Confidence Petition

The community presents this petition to the Mod Team in order to begin the process for a Vote of No Confidence in MikeSmith_SnowNation. The community believes that he should no longer be on the Mod Team, with consideration to his behavior and past actions. Mike lacks the temperament required for a moderator, Mike is far too inactive to be a moderator, and Mike was also a key player involved in keeping Bakk in the sim.

Mike lacks the temperament required for a moderator. Mike is constantly acting out against the members of the sim when they make even the slightest notion of criticizing him, his behaviors, or anything else that is favorable to him. When others were being jailed for calling the “God’s Morals” alt by who he really was, Thomas E, Mike decided to warn everyone to “show the evidence or quit harassing him.” Emma made the following statements of “I sent Butters the evidence” and then “you want more? I’ll get more but how about you do your job and actually look into it.” Mike proceeded to jail her for this, despite having given her absolutely no warning nor it even being a jailable offense. Alongside this, Mike is also known to have proclaimed “I’m done talking about it. I blocked 2 members that think it’s ok to shit on my profession. This subject is very personal to me.” When members were providing critiques of the military in AGS. As such, Mike ended up blocking many members. AGS is political by nature, and a mod who is incapable of receiving criticism of related institutions should no longer be in a position of administration.

Mike is far too inactive to be a moderator. Mike has a record of being absent from server affairs, and disappearing for weeks at a time without too much of a notice. Although in certain cases this can be excused, it is too often of a difficulty when it comes to Mike in particular. His absence is problematic because mods should be available on a consistent basis, so that they are capable of addressing the many issues of the server. This is especially a problem with Mike, considering that many on the centre-right/right wing feel that a mod who represents more of their views, is too vacant for them to receive consistent representation. Although the appointment of the two recent mods was a decently good move to help the overall atmosphere of the server, it neglected to bring in another mod who represents right wing views. Although Kody, Emma, and Peanut should not be removed because they have been able to show competence thus far, it is urgent that potential for a competent, active, right-wing mod is prioritized over keeping an inactive and incapable one.

Mike was also a key player involved in keeping Bakk in the sim. The entire Bakk situation and the disaster that it was is well known to many on the server, but especially to those involved and to the meta team. It is also understood that Sparkle, Sol, and Emma brought forth the issue of sexual harassment to the mods, and Kody and MaTh were prepared to remove Bakk for his inappropriate behavior. However, Mike decided to step in and add extra input by claiming that he was trained to handle sexual harassment. What this lead to was the entire situation being completely swept under the rug. Bakk was allowed to resign from the mod team under the pretense of “personal reasons”. The community was not informed of Bakk’s actions and Bakk was allowed to remain in the sim for weeks after, before Bakk finally left of his own accord. This was all because Mike decided to talk Kody and MaTh into backing down from dealing severe punishment deserved to someone who committed a serious offense. Not only this, but Bakk was later allowed to return and regain his reputation in the community despite the Mods, mostly being locked in place by Mike on the issue, knowing full well what he had done. On top of all this, Mike has remained a consistent apologist for Bakk’s actions.

Mike's Response: (Feb 12, 2019; same day petition was submitted with signatures)

I'm going to keep this relatively short. There has been an active attempt to VONC me and i'm done fighting it. I read all the charges. I would just say that on the big unpopular decisions I made strong recommendations on how to proceed and the head mod had final decision authority and we all supported the final decisions at the time. I don't quite understand why i'm getting all the blame but what is done is done. As far as my being absent; I always informed the team when I was to be gone because of my heavy work schedule. I did block people that I felt were spitting on my honorable profession and I'm not sorry for that and it was never a rules violation to do so. I respect the people that have to make difficult decisions for the META and take the heat and I respect the process I voted for and I respect the sim that has prospered over the last year. I hereby resign my Moderator position and will choose to remain as a basic member of the sim.
