Speaker of the House of Representatives
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, more commonly known as the Speaker of the House or just Speaker, it is the main presiding officer of the House of Representatives. The Speaker is typically a member of the majority party, and technically does not have to be an elected official of the House, although every Speaker thus far has been.
The Speaker of the House is equivalent to the President Pro Tempore of the United States Senate and one ahead of them in the presidential line of succession, behind just the Vice President.
The current House Speaker is Representative Valerie, serving this position for two Congress' now, in the 11th and in the 12th. She was elected Speaker among the Representatives on January 13, 2020. Shortly after, she appointed Representative Thanos May as Speaker Pro Tempore, and allowed him to preside on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in a standing order.
