John Smith
John Smith is an American politician serving as the Historical Advisor to the President. He also served as Assemblyman for Dixie's 2nd (10th - 12th session) district and as a Senator from Dixie from August to November 2019.
Backstory and Personal Info
John Audie Smith was born February 2nd, 1984 in Waco, Texas (Present day Dixie). His family is of Irish descent. His parents were James and Patricia Smith, an auto mechanic and elementary school teacher respectively. His father also fought in the Vietnam War, earning a Purple heart in the process. He attended Texas A&M University where he received a bachelor’s degree in History in 2002. He then attended a graduate program at Baylor University where he received a master’s degree in 2004 and attempted to pursue a PhD. Monetary issues made this difficult and he was forced to put his plans on hold until he could pay off his student loans and afford to finish the courses. He then became a high school history teacher in his hometown. While in Waco, he met and married his wife Sandra Smith in 2006. He inherited a 25 acre ranch near Waco from his grandfather in 2014, where he and Sandra live today. From his childhood many saw him as politically minded, and he did express interest and in joining politics many times. He entered politics in May 2019 after seeing the Mayday Crisis and other events and decided the country could benefit from his leadership and ideas. In late 2020 and early 2021 he was no longer in an elected position but was financially better off so he chose to finish the doctoral program he began in 2004. He was able to finish the program and received a PhD in History on February 21st, 2021. He is also skilled at playing the fiddle.
Political history
Smith has served in many political positions throughout his career and is still involved in politics to this day.
Dixie State Government
He first entered Dixie politics in May of 2019, being nominated for Attorney General of Dixie by Governor Webb. He served in the position until AG was made an elected rather than nominated office. In July he was nominated by Governor Webb to join the Dixie Senate, which he was elected President of. But in August the flaws and congestive nature of the Dixie Senate was shown, he then voted in favor of a new Dixie Constitution that abolished the Senate, the very office he held. He was then elected to the Dixie Assembly's 1st seat in August 2019 and did not pursue reelection to that seat. December 2019 would be a busy month for Smith. He was nominated for Lieutenant Governor by Governor Glaze, but due to the Governor’s unpopularity the nomination failed. Also he was elected to the DX-2 seat of the Assembly which he would hold until June of 2020. Finally, he was nominated for Dixie Secretary of Health and Human Services by Governor Cabin and would hold the position until March of 2020. In January he would be elected Speaker of the General Assembly which he would hold until May of 2020. He has not held any official position in the Dixie Government since June 2020.
House of Representatives
Smith first entered national politics being elected to the NS-7 District of house in a special election taking place in May 2019. He would lose reelection the following July. He would then spend time in the United States Senate until rejoining the house in November of 2019 when he would win election to the DX-5 seat. He would lose reelection in January of 2020. In March he would be elected to the DX-2 House seat where he would stay until September 2020. March is also when he would be elected Speaker of the House, a position he would keep until May 2020. He has not held a position in the House of Representatives since September 2020.
Senate
Smith’s history in the Senate was short but productive. He was appointed to the vacant Dixie Class I Senate seat by Governor Glaze in August of 2019, he would go on to serve as Minority Leader from August into September when he would be elected President Pro Tempore of the Senate, for most of the term there was not a Vice President so he performed all duties of running the Senate. He would not pursue reelection to the Senate in November 2019, instead running for and winning a seat in the House of Representatives. He has not held a position in the Senate since.
Executive Branch
Smith has also held quite a few positions in the Executive Branch. First serving as Secretary of Commerce under the LOTR and Patty Administrations. He later served as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development throughout the Valerie Administration and into the Garland Administration, though he would leave the Garland Administration in September 2020. In January of 2021 he would be hired by the Sandoval Administration as Historical Advisor to the President where he serves to this day.
