NotAName is a former Progressive Senator from Jefferson and Speaker of the House. He was originally a Democrat, but he left to join the Communist Party before settling on the Progressives. Later, he would join such parties as the Laborites and the Federalists. Presently, NotAName is a member of the United Left, and serves in their leadership. NotAName is the only member of the sim to have held a position in Congress representing three different states.
History
Beginnings
NotAName was invited by AnswerMeNow to the sim on April 3, 2018. He was elected to the House of Representatives in the April Election on the Green Democratic Ticket in the South (now Dixie). During the June elections, NotAName briefly defected to the Communist Party before leaving and becoming a founding member of the Progressive Party, along with Butterlands and others.
NotAName was elected to one of the Senate seats in the Northern special election in July, after the Communist exodus. After serving a few weeks as minority leader, another special election prompted the ambitious, Progressive-supported candidate IndyPrez into the Senate (NotAName had designed a campaign poster for IndyPrez, as well as given him advice). He assisted in making IndyPrez Majority Leader of the Senate, setting off an era of the Senate known as the "IndyPrez era". Meanwhile, NotAName had become the de facto second-in-command of the Progressive Party, assisting Butterlands in negotiating a Progressive-Republican Coalition to combat the Democratic hold on the country.
The Rise of NotAName
After the Democratic Coup, many members of the Democrats disagreeing with the methods of ComHack447 defected to the Progressive Party. This allowed the Party to surge to victory in the August Elections. They took control of both the House and Senate, putting Jet back to his old position as Senate Majority Leader. This period was quite quiet, with the Progressives passing their agenda mostly without challenge. The PP-GOP coalition was terminated for the sake of it not being needed anymore, and a rival coalition with the Democrats, the SDA, was founded. The Democrats would soon become the New Whigs, but the coalition was not touched.
The October Elections saw the defeat of the SDA and the defeat of the left for the first time in sim history. The SDA lost the Senate, but retained a majority in the House. NotAName lost reelection to Lamport and, as part of a plan formulated by fellow party member Cool Dad, moved to Jefferson and became a representative in the state. During this period, NotAName became the Leader of the PP following the ascension of Butterlands to the Supreme Court, and became Secretary of State, nominated by his former party leader Politophile. NotAName helped negotiate the LC, an agreement between the SDA and the Communist Party. Following the retirement of Peanut, NotAName resolved a brief Speakership crisis in the House by volunteering himself to serve as Speaker for the remainder of the session of Congress.
During this time, NotAName founded the Orwell Institute, an anti-authoritarian think tank loosely promoting the values of George Orwell.
NotAName reentered the Senate following the January Elections, winning a seat from the retiring Apex. He defeated Valerie, which makes him one of the only people to defeat her in her sim career. However, he lost the party leadership elections to good friend Cool Dad by a small margin. NotAName went on to become a member of the PNEC, in an attempt to bridge a growing divide within the party between the establishment Progressives (headed by Cool Dad), and the Justice Progressives (headed by IndyPrez).
The Fall of NotAName
On January 12, 2019, NotAName announced an already-expected run for the Presidency of the US. Although initially the favorite, he was decisively upset by fellow party member MichiganLefty in the primaries. NotAName would file to run independently, and along with MichiganLefty, he participated in a contentious presidential race that eventually led to the Second Communist Exodus.
NotAName left the server along with the other Communists during the exodus. He eventually rejoined in April that year, and defeated future President Cabin in a House race in the 3rd district of Jefferson. He served the term fully, defecting to the GOP midway through, breaking with the Labor Party over a variety of issues. He participated in the founding of the Federalist Party, and served in its leadership.
Presidential Campaign
NotAName joined the United Left and was elected to the National Council of the People, defeating Lina Cafe. After a half-assed attempt to return to the House, which he lost to the SDP, NotAName abandoned his dreams of a presidential run, deciding to spend the rest of his days assisting new UL members in their careers. He helped Trash become the left nominee during the Joint Primary.
After Trash was implicated in a scandal in which he was found conspiring to abuse the electoral system to force a House runoff, he was pressured to resign from fellow members on the left. NotAName was floated as a potential successor, and accepted. He chose XRT-17 as his running mate.
The NotAName campaign emphasized the need for change in Washington, expansion of welfare, and the institution of an annual wealth tax. NotAName was nominated in a formal United Left primary, and received the endorsements of the Global Labor and Social Democratic parties.
NotAName lost the presidential election to Dixie Governor Sandoval, 11 Electoral Votes to 18. He won the State of Puerto Rico, and tied Sandoval in electoral votes in the Northern State. He gained 3 electoral votes in the state of Jefferson, compared to Sandoval's 5.
After his loss, NotAName called Sandoval to concede. He plans to start his own organization, as well as prepare for a role in the Sandoval administration.
Personal Life
NotAName was previously engaged to former Speaker of the House EhManana. The engagement was called off.
