Charles Bacon is an American politician who serves as the Assemblyman for Dixie's 2nd District as a Libertarian-Republican. Although his career is considered short by other more experienced politicians, he has made a name for himself on the Dixie political scene, being described by The Lone Star as "a staunch libertarian" and a "rising LRP star."

Early Life & Education

Charles Bacon was born in Atlanta, Georgia, Dixie and attended a private school in elementary. Following his father's loss of job he would be sent to a public middle and high school. Being among the top in his class he would be accepted into the University of Georgia and pursue a degree in business. Following graduation from UGA, Charles would return to Atlanta and start the Atlanta Tribune. Several years would pass before Charles returned to school in pursuit of becoming a professor of business at UGA. He would serve the post for 6 years. He would eventually leave to pursue a career in politics.

Political Career

Pirate Party

At the start of his career, Charles was in the Pirate Party. The party was largely based in the North and DC with a minor presence in Jefferson, this largely led to Charles being alone in his path through Dixie's politics.

Dixie Attorney General Campaign

In perhaps the most contested Attorney General race in Dixie history, Charles Bacon saw his political debut. The race saw independent disgraced Governor Aegeus Phoenix and LRP newcomer Victoria Keating face off against Charles. The election had the possibility to launch one of two newcomers to a new career or bring a disgraced governor back to political viability. Due to these possibilities, the special election received national attention and endorsements from across the nation. Following an intense debate that was largely composed of Victoria and Charles attacking Phoenix the endorsements flowed in. Pirates and a small number of Dixie left coalition members endorsed Bacon however it wasn't enough to overturn the war machine that was the LRP's full support of Victoria. On the first ballot Bacon would receive 29.67% of the vote, following the elimination of write-ins and Phoenix, Bacon would have 40.85% of the vote. Although Victoria's career seemed to have launched instead of Bacon's, the campaign would bring attention to the political newcomer and lead to Soren Dillinger's nomination of Bacon to be Dixie's Secretary of Education.

Dixie Secretary of Education

Following Wonder's resignation from the position in January, the Secretary's desk lay barren for a month. On February 27th Acting Governor Soren Dillinger nominated Bacon to be Dixie's Secretary of Education. Charles accepted the nomination and following a hearing unanimously passed a vote by the assembly, being inaugurated on the 28th. Charles got to work immediately, on March 11th he would submit his first secretarial order changing Dixie's social studies curriculum to include the histories of Native Americans and African Americans along with a Dixie Studies class studying the history of the state. On March 25th Charles would publish his second secretarial order, the One For All Initiative, providing laptops to students throughout the state of Dixie.

First Congressional Race

In the March Federal Elections Secretary Bacon would once again pursue the possibility of elected office. He would run in Dixie's 3rd congressional district, challenging SDP incumbent Soren Dillinger. Many media organizations underestimated Charles, ABC News predicted Charles would get just 37% of the vote. What many of these predictions failed to account for was the recent shutdown which was largely blamed on the left, including Bacon's opponent Soren. Bacon's strategy through this campaign was a populist one, calling washington corrupt and orchestrating himself as someone who could clean it up. This approach would ultimately not allow him to win the election, however he won 46.61% of the vote astounding most and outdoing practically all predictions. Despite once again failing to reach elected office, Charles was not discouraged and took his new found name recognition towards his next election.
