Valerie is a Jeffersonian politician in the United States.

Parliament

Elected to the Parliament of Jefferson in October, 2018, her first legislative achievement was lowering the drinking age from 21 to 18 amid some Progressive opposition. She was re-elected in October and further elected Speaker. Soon after, however, Governor Peanut resigned unexpectedly and Lieutenant Governor CoolDad resigned as well, rather than take office, so she was called upon to succeed to the Governorship.

First Governorship

Valerie recognized neither she, nor her party, were elected by the people to govern the Commonwealth so she committed to hold office in a non-controversial and generally non-partisan manner. She nominated the leading Progressive, NotAName, to serve as Lieutenant Governor. She did not seek her own mandate in next gubernatorial election and she was succeeded by codegreen in February.

Congress

Elected to the House in October, 2018, Valerie was re-elected in January, May, September and November, 2019, to serve 5 non-consecutive terms. Most notably, she passed legislation to establish trade reciprocity, make national parks free of charge for citizens and residents and abolish the Department of Education in favor of block grants to the states. During a long period in which Speakers were regularly (and invariably) dismissed in the middle of the term, she was elected to succeed Thanos and chair the House in the 11th Congress.

Chief of Staff

Valerie was appointed Chief of Staff to President Lamport, where she served the whole term, and President Patty, when he was called upon to succeed. She took a leading role in executing their foreign policy agenda: ending the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, negotiating a landmark nuclear disarmamemt treaty and giving up the veto in the United Nations to promote its abolition.

Second Governorship

Critical of Governor Putbye and his Administration taking on hundreds of billions in debt, Valerie challenged his re-election and won, taking office in December. She immediately began to pay down the debt, implemented a land value tax, abolished the income tax, corporate tax and sales tax, achieving the first single tax in the United States, and established a public dividend, or universal basic income, named the Common Wealth Fund.
