Michael 'Miguel' Wazowski is an African-American politician and attorney who currently serves as Speaker of the Dixie General Assembly, representing Dixie's 2nd district and serves as the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Currently a registered independent, Wazowski has previously held positions in the United States House of Representatives and the Dixie State Cabinet. Most recently, Wazowski was a candidate for the special election to become a Senator from the state of Dixie.

Wazowski is notable for being the first African-American Speaker of the State of Dixie.

Early Life, Education, Career (1983-2019)

Michael Wazowski was born on January 11th, 1983 in Austin, (in the then state) Texas at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center to Robert and Christina Wazowski (née Johnson). Wazowski would grow up in the typically nuclear home as an only child, facing adversity as a poor student in school.

Overcoming the challenges of his childhood, he would graduate from Travis High School while earning the famous scholarship, Presidential Scholars. With a full ride to the college of his dreams, the University of Texas at Austin, Wazowski would excel making the dean's list for 3/4 years he attended and graduating with distinction.

After graduation he would continue his education at Harvard University before becoming a lawyer at the non-profit Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (Commonly known as RAICES) in Austin, Texas. Dedicated to solving issues of immigration in Texas, Wazowski would argue many cases but stopping short of reaching the Supreme Court. After the success in his position at RAICES, Wazowski was offered multiple positions both in the non-profit and for-profit industries. Deciding to take a position as a partner with a large private firm in New Orleans, LA, he would relocate from his hometown of Austin to New Orleans where he currently still resides.

Entry into Politics

Being involved in non-profits, Wazowski became interested in a career in public service, with many ideas on how he can better work for the people, he began exploring options into the political sphere. With being well known in the state of Dixie, Wazowski made the decision to join the Libertarian party and run for office for the Dixie State Assembly.

Taking on incumbent Kevin, a member of the Social Democratic Party, Wazowski would win the election in an upset.

Taking over during the height of COVID-19, Wazowski would join the Governor's Coronavirus Task Force and assist in bringing assistance and support to combat the virus that was plaguing the state. His time in the cabinet would be a relatively short ride as Wazowski would get elected to the General Assembly representing Dixie's 2nd district. Joining under first term Governor and current US President Sandoval, Wazowski would have a very quiet start to the Assembly, releasing only a single bill.

At the start of his time in the Assembly, Wazowski would begin as a Libertarian. Unsure of his true political identity and after going through issues within the party with other members, he would leave becoming an independent. One of the only independents in the Assembly, his vote became a swing vote in a primarily Libertarian dominated Assembly. Although no longer in the party, his relationship with the party would continue. Wazowski would also have a brief stint with the former United Left party that once had a hand in Dixie politics. During his time as a United Left member, Wazowski would enter for a chance to represent Dixie's 4th district in the United States House of Representatives. With a lackluster performance and basic neglect of his race, he would lose to SDP's Glaze.

Second Dixie Assembly Term

After his failed political campaign for United States House, Wazowski would reflect on his political future and decide to return to an independent. During this time, Wazowski's first term would come to an end and his political future would come in to question once again as he begins his campaign for re-election.

During his re-election campaign, Wazowski would not be supported or partnered with any major parties, although it can be said the Libertarian Party was silently supporting him. Defending his seat, he would take on SDP's Ethan Mathias, Libertarian's Lili, former Assemblyman and independentJohn Smith and independent Ryan. He would win with 39% of the vote in what Wazowski has stated has his "toughest race."

During this time, the Assembly would see many changes. With then Speaker of the Assembly Aegeus Phoenix withholding the vote on an amendment to enshrine abortion rights into the constitution, the Assembly was forced to remove Phoenix in favor of Assemblyman Christian Bo. During this time, Wazowski would take a much more active role in the Assembly, being appointed Speaker Pro Tempore and releasing a slue of bills, becoming the most active in the session. During this time, the Dixie Secessionist Plot, as it became know, would come to fruition throwing many prominent members of the Assembly and state cabinet into the light with accusations of attempting an overthrow in the state and leaving the union. With the Assembly immediately launching an investigation into the allegations, their report would shine light into the situation. With Wazowski deciding that then Lt Governor and Assemblyman Phoenix's role in the group being malicious, he would attempt to expel Phoenix with the support of the then United Left's Jess Reed. Losing the vote, Wazowski would suffer one of his first major defeats in his career.

Half way through this session, then Governor Omarosa Sandoval would be elected to President of the United States alongside Speaker Bo. With Bo in his new position, he decided to relinquish his post as Speaker, paving the way for Wazowski to become Speaker of the Assembly.
