Jacobin Coalition

The Jacobin Coalition was a major political alliance between the Green Democract Party and the Radical Labor Party during the 1st Federal Election and st Session of Congress, during both the Early and Foundation Eras. The Coalition was meant to be a unification the the simulation's left wing, in order to concentrate power within the congress and ensure that both parties would have power in the government. The Coalition would fall post-politi-gate.

Creation

Prior to the first Federal Election, the RLP made several deals with other parties to ensure that they would be able to run in the Northern State unopposed. In one of these back-room chats, an agreement was made with the Green Dems: Form an alliance. It wasn't long after that the following terms were drawn up:

1. Have a joint presidential primary.

2. Allow the RLP to run candidates on a Green Dem ticket in the south, as long as the RLP sent voters to the Southern State.

3. Have Green Dem ad RLP cabinet members if presidential victory was secured.

4. The creation of a joint platform.

After both sides agreed to the terms, a discord was created, and was the main means of communication for it's leadership.

The Inactive and Rough Times

After the first election was over, the Coalition slowly lost momentum. A joint platform was never created, leading to confusion on what the coalition actually stood for and agreed on. This seemed to have angered the Green Dems, who began to feel as if they were being used as pawns by the larger RLP. This lead to the point where Green Dems were actively voted agiasnt RLP backed legislation in Congress, and openly criticizing President Poke's infamous Foundation Executive Orders . These actions lead to the RLP coming to the conclusion the Green Dems did not take the alliance seriously.

However, it is worth to note that both parties kept the alliance going. It is unsure why this was the case, however it has been speculated that both parties found the voting deals to be within their best interest.

Politigate

Sometime towards the end of the Foundation Era, Politiphile (Green Dem Leader) entered talks with with the Libertarian Party in the matter of voting deals. A member of the Libertarian Party leaked a screenshot of the conversation, most likely with the intent on dividing the left of simulation, to the RLP leadership. A mass panic started within the RLP, with a theory that the Green Dems were planning on impeaching President Poke formed. By the end of the night, both the RLP leadership voted to end the Coalition.

This lead to a small Spam Storm between Green Dem and RLP members, with the drama being enjoyed by non-combatants. By the time the storm had passed, a permanent rift between the RLP and Green Dems had formed, which is still in place to this day.
