The Vice President of the United States is the elected President of the Senate and the vice head of government of the United States. The Vice President leads the United States Senate as presiding officer and is the second-commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces. The Vice President is indirectly elected to a four-month term by the people through the Electoral College, on a ticket with a presidential candidate.
