Early Life

Howard Elkridge was born on March 3, 1979, living with his parents and other brother. As a child, he was always interested in the field of law, growing up in the Maryland suburbs around Washington DC. He was an academically bright-student, where he won a merit scholarship to attend an affluent private school, from a family of modest means. There he was able to become an avid debate participant, competing in acclaimed regional and national debate tournaments.

Education and Legal Career

Howard Elkridge obtained bachelor's degree from John Hopkins University in political science in 2000, and J.D from the University of Chicago in 2003. He expanded his career to academia, completing a teaching Constitutional Law classes as a lecturer, also obtaining a Doctorate in Public Administration. Later getting tenure, he ushered scholarship, aimed at developing policy in reforming the administrative state, where he was a strong proponent of the unitary executive theory in government.

Start of Political Career

Itching to get into government to use his academic background to enact change, he finally was able to get a nomination offer from President Valeriein March 2020 serving as the Solicitor General, on the recognition of his superb analytical skills in addressing legal issues, where he was able to not only represent the Federal Government, in Soro v. United States. He was involved in consultations with the President and then AG Thanos May on critical matters, whether that be on the legal kinks of patent reform, or the legal application of the Emergency Income Fund for coronavirus funding during the Valerie Administration. Two months later, following the resignation of Thanos May to serve on the State Supreme Court, he was given the nomination of Attorney General in May 2020. His signature work was in defending the Federal Government in Epsilon v. United States regarding EO 60’s NATO withdrawal initiation.

Also now with the ability of now being able to hold multiple offices, he had initially an unsuccessfully bout at pursuing electoral positions, running twice for US Representative in NS-4 against Darby and SteB in the elections through the spring 2020, once for State Delegate in NS-4 against SteB in the June State Elections. He also had bid against Kody Clark in NS-6 for US Representative in the July special election following Coulter’s ascendency into the Senate, and again for the subsequent special against Rep. Del Kody Clark and Justice Ymir in the July Federal Elections for the NS Class I Senate seat, again all ending up in defeat.

On July 23, 2020, the Northern House of Delegates unanimously confirmed him to be the newly-minted Lieutenant Governor of the Northern State. This was to fill the vacancy in the wake of [[Coulter’s|Jack Shunsuke Coulter] ascension as Governor, following Garland resigning due to his election as President of the United States. As Lieutenant Governor, Howard Elkridge acted as a bridge in improving communication between the executive agencies in the Coulter Administration, even during the tough times in the midst of the pandemic.

Height of Dedication

Succeeding the medically-beleaguered Governor Jack Shunsuke Coulter during the pandemic provided much of a challenge. Even with initial struggles that required cleaning-up the house of a languishing bureaucracy, he was able to secure strides, through both executive action and the budgetary process, that gave a beacon of light in preparing the state for a widespread re-opening that took place in the next Administration. While his initial tenure in the state executive was brief, he was able to have a more prolonged legislative career in the House of Delegates over multiple nonconsecutive terms. He played a significant part in the enactment of many items of crucial legislation, from the Northern Commercial Licensing and Regulatory Reform Act, to the Northern Postnatal Care Act.

At around the same time, he also was seeing a rise in his trust by the people for federal elective office. Initially he was elected to a special election for Representative in August to succeed Chief Justice Thanos May seat which had a vacancy at the time. He was re-elected for a full term in September, running against former Governor Juan Mendoza, a man most notably known for faking his death to escape public life. During his time in the House of Representatives, he used his perch to hold the line for fiscal prudence, a tough task in a supermajority Left Coalition, most notably during a debate on the Student Bankruptcy Act, which failed to provide properly targeted relief while saddling on long-term financial liability for the American taxpayer. His time in the House also saw the sponsorship of the GREG Act, a bipartisan bill that set the framework for renewable energy research grant legislation in the post-2018 reforms, being the RENT Act that passed in the next session.

Winning a statewide open Senate race being left by departing Senator Clark against the House Majority Leader SteB, (He won re-election on a unanimous vote), he began embarking on what became his current tenure in the United States Senate also as Floor Leader. Over the months, he has pushed for over 18 items of legislation, amendments, and negotiated multiple budgets, touching on everything from big-picture foreign policy challenges to technical relief packages, making him one of the most active legislators in his tenure. Even in the ups and downs, he has always been a stalwart advocate for the fundamental prerogative of the government to adhere to proper public finance practices on behalf of the American people, even in the face of political pressure. He's proud to have held dear to his heart the red-line of the Senate Libertarian Caucus; no new taxes, no deficits, and conditional relief in times of stability.

Concurrently, as two-term elected Mayor of the District of Columbia, he has been able to see consecutive cycles of successful budgetary surpluses while minimizing the tax burden for Washington D.C. The city was put on a much more economically prosperous place through executive and legislative reforms, turning around from being a struggling hub for health comorbidities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Libertarian Party

Following the November 2020 federal elections, the January 2021 federal elections, Libertarian Party Chairman Christian Bo opted not to seek a second term as Chairman. Elkridge opted to run, and faced off against Former President LOTR for the role. Elkridge emerged victorious, taking 85% of the vote, and was elected to be the Libertarian Party’s fourth Chair. During his time as Federal Chair, he successfully oversaw a party convention that fully transformed the Libertarian Party through rebranding in platform, party structure, and name into the Libertarian-Republican party. Under his leadership, the party was not only able to hold onto the White House successfully, but flipped the United States Senate back to the right's control, while also gaining control of 3/4 state legislatures, including the traditionally left-wing controlled Northern House of Delegates in the first time in over a year. Elkridge opted not to run for a third term as Chairman, and he was succeeded by James Wonder.

Political Beliefs

Howard Elkridge is considered to be one of the most right-wing members within the Libertarian-Republican Party and the national body politic as scored by political watchers in his consistent resolve for fiscal responsibility. Economically, he is staunchly conservative, being a key member in upholding the three red-lines of public red lines of "No new deficits", "No new taxes", and "conditional relief", while also being opposed to corporate welfare efforts such as the restoration of the Export-Import Bank. On foreign policy, he is considered to be more hawkish and internationalist, advocating for the ratification of multiple United Nation treaties and supporting substantial increases to the Department of Defense's budget. He is also seen as socially libertarian, seen as a staunch supporter of gun rights, legalization of drugs and prostitution, while also being one of the 17 co-sponsors of the Choice Amendment currently enshrined in the Constitution.

Personal Life

Howard Elkridge is married to his wife, Andrea Elkridge, where they have 3 kids; a son and two daughters. As an avid pet lover, he has a 4 year, 1 ½ year, and a new 3 month kitten old tuxedo cat, named "Whiskers Jr", along with nearly a dozen finches and two cockatiels, for which his wife in her words makes their house, “a mini-zoo”.

Honors

Elkridge was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Sandoval upon his departure as United States Secretary of State for his service to the nation.
