| The race originally started as a two-man race between Elkridge and SteB and the political parties and pundits were gearing up for another close election before April Kennedy the independent Representative announced their candidacy for President with former Vice Presidential candidate Rose McAlister from the March 2021 Presidential Election. A few days before the main debate and campaigning took place a report was released which showed SteB trying to merge tickets with Elkridge in an attempt to prevent a contingent election. This lead to Libertarian-Republicans to take an offensive and pin the controversy as a subversion of democracy which leads SteB to rebut back claiming it was Elkridge all along who attempted a merger. The entire controversy showed a drop in support for both candidates and allowed for April to move up as a serious candidate in the running.

| The three campaigns of this election each brought something different when campaigning, in the beginning of the race many political pundits thought that the April/Rose ticket would throw all of its resources to its homes state of Jefferson in an attempt to head to a contingent election. But after the merger leak, they proceed to campaign in all states. Senator Elkridge campaigned in Dixie and the North the most trying to win the mandate in case of a contingent while leading in Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. April tried to score victories in their home state of Jefferson while winning Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico turned out to be one of the most toss-up states and again another key factor in deciding the Presidential Election just as in the previous election.

| During the debates which heavily influenced the election, SteB and April both attacked Elkridge with Elkridge on the defense on occasion but mainly resorting to attacks on SteB. All three candidates debated vigorously but public opinion put Elkridge as the winner with SteB shortly behind and April last. The Vice Presidential debate was quieter and less publicized with the incumbent Ian largely not taking any attacks on the other two candidates. Many pundits thought that Drunk had won the Vice Presidential Debate. With the results too close to call no one knew who was gonna win the Election or if it would go to a contingent.

| Unlike the previous presidential election, not all states had winner-take-all systems in place. Between this election and the previous, Dixie repealed its proportional allocation allowing all 6 of its Electoral Votes to be given to the winner. All other states were, however, proportional. This proved costly for the SteB Campaign, as their loss prevented them from taking any of Dixie's electoral votes.

| SteB, being the Governor of the North, won his home state very closely. Elkridge who was the Senior Senator managed a very close second in the North. Dixie, Drunk who was SteB's running mate home state, was long considered to be a right-leaning, and SteB's loss to Elkridge hurt. This loss likely cost him the election, as with a win in Dixie he would have brought a contingent election from Electoral Votes. Elkridge's win of DC was a surprise, as many out campaigned there, with April failing to get a single electoral vote there put the race in dire view of a contingent.

| In the wake of his defeat, SteB colluded with the then Governor of Puerto Rico [[Dallas]] to try to swing its electoral votes to the SteB/Drunk ticket ensuring a contingent election and giving the opening for SteB to win. This plan was leaked to the press and lead to Governor SteB's impeachment and resignation and helped end the Social Democratic Party after a series of losses. This was the last election in which someone of the Social Democratic Party was the party's nominee for President.
