PirateCody founded AmericanGovSim alongside MaTh in January 2018. Cody served on the AGS Mod Team as both a regular moderator and as Head Moderator from January 10th, 2018 until March 18th, 2019. Cody also served as Associate Justice and later Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Cody returned to AGS on May 13th, 2019. After his return, he held several offices under various left-leaning parties, including the Labor Party, American Liberal Party, and Social Democratic Party. Cody uses the nickname Kody Clark in AGS canon.

Meta

Early Days

In December of 2017, PirateCody began to feel discontent with the other online mock governments of the time. Having similar feelings, one of Cody's good friends, MaTh, approached him and other individuals about starting a new model government solely on Discord.

Pre-Main Server

The AGS Pre-Main Server was a discord server where the "founding fathers" of AGS brainstormed what they would want their new model government to look like. A lot of ideas were discussed, but a few prominent notions emerged from the debates. This new government sim would have the bulk of its activities on Discord, and this new government sim would strive to have friendly banter and serious political discussion coexist in a non-toxic environment. The final guiding philosophy for what would become AGS was a principle of a player-driven sim. This ideal was very important to Cody in particular, as he had become discontent with other model governments due to constant interference from the mods. PirateCody and MaTh would be the only AGS "founding fathers" to continue with the plan and establish the server.

Meta Career

Cody served first as a member of the AGS Mod Team, aka Moderator, and then as Head Moderator. As a mod, Cody was heavily involved in the creation of the election systems. Cody created the modifier system, campaign finance, campaign grading, and implemented the endorsement system written by Oliver. He was also a big proponent of keeping the raw vote as a part of the election system, as opposed to moving to completely simulated elections. As Head Moderator, Cody introduced the 5.1 Year plan, which was a plan that established goals for AGS over the next 5.1 years. Many of the goals were met or partially implemented during Cody's tenure as Head Mod.

Judicial Career

Associate Justice

Kody Clark was appointed to the Supreme Court of the United States by President Poke and was confirmed on February 20th, 2018. He served as Associate Justice on the Jacksazzy Court and infamously joined on Justice Lordusan's opinion against corporate personhood, a decision Clark would later say he regretted. Overall, Clark was not an Associate Justice for very long. In the wake of May Day, Chief Justice Jacksazzy retired and President Butterlands nominated Kody to the seat.

Kody Clark was confirmed as Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court on May 4th, 2018, thus beginning the Clark Court.
